Chinese pottery is the oldest form of art in China dating to the Neolithic era about 6000 years ago. Their clay pottery evolved into combining kaolin and granite to produce the durable, beautiful, blue and white porcelain China is famous for. It would be hundreds of years later before Europe would learn the secrets to producing porcelain, resulting in a product that would become central to China’s culture for hundreds of years to come. Here is some of my work produced while living in Jingdezhen, China, the porcelain capital of the world.
